Our Credentials

We are board certified and sub-specialty trained Orthopaedic Surgeons ready to treat your ankle, hindfoot, or midfoot condition. Our goal is to provide you the highest quality of care by offering the most advanced yet scientifically sound surgical treatments available for your ankle, hindfoot, and lower extremity.

Our Expertise

We specialize in the evaluation and surgical correction of a wide variety of problems affecting the ankle, lower leg, hindfoot, and midfoot.

Many of the problems we treat involve the joints and cartilage including arthritis, cartilage injuries, and osteochondral defects (OCDs) that lead to ankle pain, stiffness, catching or locking, and swelling.

Others are associated with complex malalignment such as flat foot, cavus foot, equinus, distal tibia varus or valgus, rocker bottom foot, or tibial malunion.

Ankle problems related to sprains and strains include ligament & tendon injuries, chronic or recurring ankle sprains, Achilles tendon tears, loose bodies, and ankle spurs & impingement.

Finally, we specialize in the care of fractures & fracture related problems including nonunion, malunion, pain after fracture, and post-traumatic arthritis.

Ankle Arthritis Center

We specialize in the evaluation & surgical correction of arthritis and cartilage defects involving the ankle, hindfoot (subtalar joint, talonavicular&calcaneocuboid) and midfoot (intercuneiform&tarsometatarsal) joints.

Arthritis & Cartilage Defects

We use a number of techniques including total ankle replacement, fusion (arthrodesis), and distraction arthroplasty to minimize pain and maximize function and activity.

Surgical Techniques

Damage to the joint’s cartilage, including osteochondral defects (OCDs), bone spurs, or soft tissue impingement may require an arthroscopic procedure to relieve your symptoms.

Arthroscopy

Arthroscopy is a type of surgery that uses a small camera and instruments placed into a joint through very small incisions. It allows visualization and access to structures in and around the joint and is ideal for treating a number of conditions using minimally invasive techniques.

Deformity

Complex deformities such as flat foot, cavus foot, equinus, distal tibia varus or valgus, rocker bottom foot, or tibial malunion often benefits from realignment procedures to help get your back on your feet.

Collapse Correction

We use a number of techniques such as osteotomy, tendon lengthening or transfer, ligament repair, and fascial release to address these deformities with the goal of restoring alignment, stability and functions and minimizing pain.

Trauma & Fractures

With three locations including San Carlos, Burlingame, and Palo Alto we are easy to access from the Peninsula, San Francisco, San Jose, California Coast, Central Valley, Sacramento, and the North Bay.

Sprains & Strains

We specialize in the evaluation and surgical treatment of sprains and strains of the ankle and hindfoot. Ankle sprains, ligament tears, and Achilles tendon tears are among the most common sports related injuries, but can also happen walking down the street.
